I'm going to Ireland at the beginning of September for three months. While this probably won't coincide with your trip, I look forward to hearing about your adventures, and then sharing my own when the time comes!
Andrew.

Anyhow, we're going to be in South and Southwest Ireland. Killarney, Dingle, County Claire (where my ancestors are from) -- that area.
I'm looking forward to hiking my legs off, and maybe visiting some of these 'thin places' one reads about.
Dingle rocks! Best little town in Southern Ireland. 1500 people and 56 pubs. We went for one night and stayed for almost a week. Be sure to do the tour of the region, but skip the Fungi boat trip.

1500 people and 56 pub? That is 1 pub for 26.8 People. No wonder you stayed for over a week.

had to try them all, now didn't I?
Every person in Dingle can sit down to a pint at the exact same time.

I will have to pay a visit to see what 0.8 of a person looks like, especially if he/she wears 0.8 of a kilt.

First, I can tell you your kilt will be received as it is anywhere else in the world... well with those that are decent and the thugs will be thugs.
My wife is from north Dublin and is very supportive of me wearing kilts. Her family thinks it's great and I have always been received well... excluding the drunken thugs... who as stated before will be thugs no matter what. They are few and far between.
So, long story short, wear your kilts, take lots of photo's and have a safe trip.
Slainte,
Tobie

Hi MtnBiker. Glad you decided to post. I'll be looking forward to hearing about your trip. My Daughter has been accepted to study at National University in Dublin for a semester. She'll be there September to December and we hope to join her there for Christmas. I'll be anxious to hear if you have any advice from your trip.
Jamie
