Thank you Barb. How the forum is asked the question does matter
The discussion ones are interesting, but I think I can use the 'math' one to work out the weights of a few smaller samples I have.

Thank you, I am sorry to all my Translate G ..... and so it perhaps comes across something wrong.
    But that's helpful.

Sometimes I forget how old I am and the vintage nature of what I think I know... also how old some of the fabric in my stash is by now.

Please post a photo of the tartan. Many of the tartans can be identified by weaver/weight on sight. That's easier (if it's not something ubiquitous like Royal Stewart, etc.) than doing the math.

    Thanks.

I have moved this thread back one level as the question pertains to kilts in general and not specifically Barb's kilts.

    In short

A kilt made from 16oz fabric will weigh somewhere around 4lb or 1.81kg

A kilt made from 13oz fabric will weigh somewhere around 3.25lb or 1.47kg

A kilt made from 10oz fabric will weigh somewhere around 2.5lb or 1.13kg

These are only rough, ballpark, estimates. The total amount of yardage used can vary and the total amount of fabric v.s. waste will vary.

    Many thanks for the help.

So I again weighed and what can I say:
1 Kilt weighs just 1.34 kg
1 Kilt weighs just 1.15 kg

Thus was my feeling that there are not 16 oz Kilt right there are <> 13 oz. Too bad.

Now we unfortunately makes his experience.

I better put something on it, and shall now make my kilt, only one will stop but then correctly (I hope).

I have a couple of kilts in 13 oz and they are fine - hold their pleats well and are more comfortable in warm weather but fine in cool weather. Therefore as you did get them for a very good price, if they fit you well be happy and enjoy them.
    Just my two bits worth.

Right, well I would be not disinclined. But I was when I was offered as 1A goods kilt unpacked very disappointed.

At the kilt a buckle was almost entirely demolished, several seams must be sewed along.
The straps look like they have located in the water, are hard and worn, etc.
The other kilt is not to be used before him not Irons. With unhook there is nothing and that has very surprised.
I have a few creases in my woolen kilt I hang it in the shower or a night out and is good.

Here the folds have to be addressed, stitched and ironed and at a 1A Kilt?

OK. I am perhaps a little too sensitive, finally, it is a used Kilt.
But I do not understand how a company product called 1A and then the client sends something like that.
No label, no precise indication, no response to demand for the material, first at least not.

Phew, all here have helped me a lot with advice and calculations thanks.

Unfortunately, a buy in USA or Canada is associated with very high tariff or I would certainly use the services of Kitmacher present here to complete.

The more I thank you for the each of you his knowledge provides.
