My father passed away when he was 72 years old and my mother forbid us from crying. She said that we should glad that he had lived a wonderful life and should celebrate it. But Still, I caught her crying a few times during the service.

    Heartfelt condolences Bubba.
As long as you, and others he touched, remember him he never truly dies. That is the only true imortality.
    NEVER forget.

hanks guys. He had a long and happy life and, at 87, it isn't like he went before his time. He lived his life to the fullest and had no regrets. He loved being the family eccentric and keeping the conformists off balance.
Now we now who you take after. Good luck and best wishes mate. Give him the best wake anyone has ever seen! Cheers my friend. Andrew

    Bubba,

You were kind enough to express your condolences to me earlier this year when I suffered a bereavement and now I sadly have to return the sentiment. The experience certainly changed my outlook on life. In retrospect I wish I had worn a kilt to the funeral (it was my son who died of illness at 23 years of age) as I'm sure he would have approved. :P

    Hank,

"When my life on Earth is ended and I reach the other shore, I shall meet my own dear clansmen who have gone that way before"

That's a cracking epitaph! As a former Merchant Seafarer, I wouldn't mind that on my headstone when the day comes.
