Tripp kilts are VERY lightweight. I too have the all black version. (and yes they are a tad long, but look at the pic of the guy wearing the black one, it's definately below his navel) Because it's very light I find it perfect for a night of dancing in a sweaty nightclub. Also, the amount of chrome hardware on the kilt give it a very "punk rock" look. I got my on sale from Hottopic and only paid 50 bucks for it, and that included the shipping.
The Tripp kilts are one dimensional, by that I mean that they are not a very versatile garment at all. While I can wear an AK or UK in while doing
many different activities, the Tripp is only functional in certain situations.
But hey....if was cheap and does exactly what I bought it for.

uhm...then don't post??!! it's sort of a waste of space.
Anyway, back on topic. I couldn't find that tartan version on Hottopic either. I've had my plain black version for over a year now.
I'll try to post a pic of it. Don't let the wrinkles in that tartan put you off of the kilt itself. With a little ironing and the right accessories I think my black looks pretty cool. If not "subversive" and punky.

I couldn't even find the black. Im actually tempted to get one to wear around the house, or to the occasional outing.

Is this what you are looking for?
The same seller lists another two in a smaller size.

I tried to take a pic of the back to show you the pleats but it's just too black. My attempt at lightening it up with photoshop didn't help much either. Anyway, like I said above, it has very limited wearability. If you can get it cheap than go for it. If not, and you plan on buying a kilt you can wear alot of ways, then it's probably not the kilt for you.

C152T, I realize that your daughter is a goth, but you seem to know an awful lot about the dress and culture. Are you sure you're not a closet goth?
