Alan,
You were home getting some rest insread of drinking beer with the Nor Cal Rabble last night. We all wanted to toast your health and wish you safe seas.
Though you won't read this for a day a or two until you reach port with wish you calm waters and good winds.
Take care friend

Best of luck, Alan, a daunting challenge but you will feel so proud once you have achieved it - the grin will last for weeks.

Well, early this morning I drove down to Santa Cruz and climbed up on the boat to install my long-saved headfoil. the one that came with the boat is just plumb wore-out. This one has been sitting in the attic for about 10 years, waiting for the right boat. It will fit this one just fine....
...but about 7/8th of the way on, I hit a hard spot in the plastic...and busted it.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH....... no headfoil, no sail. $375 gone..bye-bye. I swore a blue streak when I did that.
so I'm home, just ordered a new one out of Massachusetts, and will try again in two weeks.
But I MISSED BEER NIGHT to get enough sleep to DO this sail. *SNARL* OH, well, I just drank a Bellhaven to console myself.

Alan,
Sorry friend that sounds frustrating as all get out. You missed Casey to boot at Beer night.
But you know what?
Somethings are worth the wait.
Your boat is still yar.
She will be waiting and ready in two weeks.
In the mean time do as all sailors have done when beached... concentrate on wine, Joan, and song*!
Cheers
Jamie

Well Alan sorry to hear about your boat troubles, up here when something like this happens, we would do as Jamie suggests but also those of us in the SOKS would have an impromptu kilt night. I hope it works out for you in two weeks keep us posted.
