    Another obstacle crossed

My wife's family has never seen me in a kilt. Her father is a very traditional German man and can be quite unpredictable in his reactions to certain things. We've always gotten along well, but my wife has been reluctant to have me wear a kilt to their house for fear of what he and her mother might say. Until tonight.
Being German, they celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve. It is unseasonably warm here today (unlike last Wednesday, LOL) and my wife asked me to wear my kilt. She said it was time they saw it, reaction be damned. It turned out to be a very pleasant evening. My father-in-law was quite impressed with it, although he still has a tough time accepting the fact that the Irish wore kilts. I'll have to show him a few of the Irish Kilt web sites next time they visit.
All in all it was a great evening, and now I don't have to worry about what I wear to their house.

    That's awesome!

Yeah, the weather here has been insane... although my Godfather and his son who arrived from Hawaii today thought I was crazy for going to church this evening in my kilt and just a short sleeved shirt!

Well done Al, I know the feeling and I know the relief that it went well.

It's good that your wife is supportive, it makes a difference.

Way to go Al...and what a lovely wife.

The old saying, "The worst things I ever experienced never actually happened" kinda goes with our fears of wearing a kilt somewhere...
