I don't want to stifle the open discussion by getting involved on this too much but thought I'd share something I've been playing with.

A fellow Kilter inquired about an "adapter" that would attach a standard sporran to the kilt belt in much the same way as the belt pouch above. We kicked around a design that we've not put into production yet but I'm wondering is there a desire for such an adapter. Since the first concept, I've morphed the wide leather loop into two narrow loops so it's a bit more low profile. I'll try and mock one up this weekend and see what you guys think.

I recently got myself a thin belt from a thrift store and have been using that. Just put the buckle to the back and the strap through the back of the sporran.
It's comfortable, doesn't tear up my kilt and it's easy to move my sporran when I am doing some D.I.Y.

    Now this looks great: http://oconeeleatherworks.com/images/SporranHanger.JPG

Ever since I saw that first Sporran Suspender, I've wanted to get rid of the sporran strap.. it's a vendetta now

I'm kind of on the odd side myself, and I'm not sure if I like the looks of it, but I keep on thinking, "It sure beats wearing two belts."

Put my vote in the column that says - oh yeah - to a separate leather sporran strap. Looks great to my eye and lets you position the sporran to the side when needed.

Actually, I should fess up as to how I generally "roll."

I mostly don't wear a kilt belt, but wear a bronze/black leather R-kilts Tasmanian Devil sporran on a 1.5" black Carrhart belt, used as a traditional sporran strap. I put the buckle on my right hip, right between the other two buckles and straps of the kilt itself.

Just to put my 1.5 cents in –

    I like this:

    http://oconeeleatherworks.com/MiscAcces.htm

I use one very similar to this, that I got in a saddle shop (that thing that you tie to the back of the horse, that the gentry and cowboys ride) I think it was originally ment to tie cargo onto some sort of rack.

    I don’t much like this:

One day, I will buy one like this:

    http://saltirestore.com/sr_glnsk_fan...in_nickel.html
    or
    http://robertburnsstore.com/sr_glnsk...ap_chrome.html

For use with evening wear only!

Here is a fair source for plain straps:

I think the plain leather strap is superior to the strap and chain.

It kinda goes back to the UK logo - Which I was told is an interwoven FFF - Form Follows Function. The manner in which one wears the sporran my well be best directed by necessity. Having more than one choice available is certainly better.
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

    Form Follows Function
That can't possibly be right, since everyone knows that form follows the recommendations of the marketing departments focus group...
