I would go black dress shirt and black tie. I just find the jacobite shirts to be too costume-ish. Some people can pull it off for a dressier occasion(Pour1malt), but usually the jacobite shirts look better suited for a day in the park for the highland games.
I would go for the black dress shirt and add either a black, silver, or white tie to dress it up. I am a fan of the black dress shirt with a kilt. Heck, you could likely find a plain black vest at a tux shop and tie it all together.
Panache had a good pic of the black on black, but I can't find it yet.
Not a black kilt, but with a black dress shirt and silver tie

I'd go with the plain black shirt, but it doesn't matter what I think, what does your Wife-to-be think you should wear?

She is moving towards plain black shirt. We were going to go with teh jacobite shirt but the references to Jerry Seinfeld put us off.

I was going to go no tie as it is a relxed event. However the black on black tie is an interesting idea. Most guests will be in shirt and pants rather than suits as it is likely to be 30c or above on the day. www.witherhills.co.nz
As long as I don't forget my vowels I am sure it will be great.

I don't wear it often, but with that thought I may never wear it again.

I have just read lots of great opinions on what you should wear for your wedding, but the most important thing to consider here is what is SHE wearing. If she is very dressed up than you should be, if she is dressed down you should be. DO NOT OUT SHINE THE BRIDE!! if you can help it, you are wearing a kilt after all.

Either or would do nicely. I"ve been dressed completely in black but I am not yet in the position to be putting photos up yet. (no, one of darth vader wouldn't do) I have 2 Jack shirts, 1 formal and the other informal. The "formal" one is made of really unusual material and features a leather trim around the lace area. I got the last one as apparently they have gone out of production. Have a great day.
