Mountain biker here. Own a 1994 vintage Trek 930 steel hardtail. When I get myself another UK or other casual kilt, I'll ride kilted. I've done it before with other unbifurcated clothing, and found that it's no big deal, as long as said piece of clothing is kilt-length, and actually more comfortable than shorts or other trousered garments, even in the winter.
Garage is a mess, and the pic is a crrrappy cameraphone pic, but, here's the bike...

Forgot to metion that since that pic was taken, I've removed the toe clips/straps (farked up my left ankle by wearing worn running shoes and inserting my feet into the cages), and have replaced the saddle with an older Selle Italia Flite saddle, which is more comfortable than the stock Trek saddle.

I recently got a road bike that I love (Redline something or other). I've ridden infrequently for casual exercise, and trying to ride more often lately. Unfortunately, I live at least 20-25 miles from anywhere that I commute to on a daily basis, so at this point that's not an option, which makes me very sad
I do try to ride as often as I can, though

Got any way to carry a bike in the back of your vehicle? I usually leave my bike in the back of my Volvo wagon, so it's handy whenever I come across a trail or a decently sized park where I can ride for a while.

Cannondale Super V mountain bike (1998 with many upgrades - I've replaced/upgraded everything except for the handlebars), low-end Bianchi road bike (with many upgrades), no-name commuter bike (bought the ex-Diamondback frame at a garage sale for $1, built it up for commuting).
Unfortunately, not riding much lately, due to a strange shoulder pain that won't go away. Might be a pinched nerve. Ug.
