Dublin Irish Festival, Dublin OH. I'd guess there were about 30,000 people there on the Saturday I attended, given the overall attendance numbers provided by the festival.
As soon as I get a kilt in Columbus Crew colors, I'll probably start wearing one to MLS games like McMurdo. Crew Stadium only seats about 20k, and usually has about 15k in attendance; quite a bit smaller than the Dublin Irish Festival.
However, I plan to get a kilt in Ohio State University colors to wear to football games; that'll push my number up to 105k, and probably 2-3 times that if you include the folks milling around the campus area for all the gameday partying. But that probably won't happen until next year.

It hasn't happened yet, but on Sept. 12, my pipe band will be playing for the Kansas Army National Guard's 190th Air Refueling Wing family day. That'll be 9-10,000 people.
I'm sure the KC Highland Games or the KC Ren Fest had more people when I was there, but I have no idea how many. And this will be that many people in the same spot as opposed to spread out.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

I imagine, like Paul, that it would have to have been at THE Gathering last month.
Take care,
Ham.

Not counting the Ohio Ren Fest, I would say last year at the Troy Strawberry Festival. I wore a Royal Stuart with a green shirt. Just as hard as always to walk anywhere at the festival.

Probably the biggest was last June when I made a presentation to an international meeting of folks in my profession, a meeting which happened to be in Edinburgh, only a couple miles from the seat of my family castle (former castle--Corstorphine). I was kilted in my family tartan for the presentation to a crowd of more than 500 of my colleagues.

Hmmmm. The State Fair of Texas was a large turnout.
And Dallas ArtFest.
And the most recent Beyonce concert at the American Airlines center. I was the only kilted man there, and I made the Jumbotron for a few seconds. I missed it, but everyone else there told me about it.
