Front view of the Stavanger Domkirke.

Statue of Norwegian writer and author Arne Garborg - had not heard of him before.

This is Breiavatnet, a lake in the middle of the City, complete with obligatory Måk (Seagull)!

I liked this statue of a boy feeding the ducks at Breiavatnet.

Valbergtårnet, a tower that was originally used for firewatching in Stavanger and which offers lovely views.

One of the views from the top of the tower.

More views from the top of Valbergtårnet. You can see one of the bridges on this one that connects Stavanger with the outlying islands.

Here looking over the city centre and the roof of the Domkirke.

And some of the more modern buildings just off the city centre.

The view across the Harbour.

The Bouddica dwarfs the surrounding buildings.

Street view in Gamle (Old) Stavanger.

Great pictures, a cruise is one of the best holidays you can go on.
I'm heading for a Carribean cruise on 24th of this month and there are 4 formal nights that will allow me to be kilted.

There were only 4 kilted on the formal night despite many Scots being on board so hopefully you won't be the only one on your cruise Jimmy.
The old Toll (Customs) House in Stavanger.

View of the end of the Harbour.

And a view across Breiavatnet - a pleasure to walk all the way around.

The mirror shot is always a bit of a giveaway, isn't it. We can't get away with it when wearing a kilt.
I like the pictures of the architecture. Quite amazing the almost universal use of pan tiles on the older buildings. And quite a few with a cut-away gable end.
This is one picture that intrigued me. Just right of centre, is that a life-boat station? or maybe a training area? There seem to be four different types of life-boat and four different launch methods. Any ideas?

It is probably a training- or test area for us of lifeboats used on oil drilling platforms in the North Sea. Stavanger is Norway's oil capital.

I do remember that the building on the promontory was a Naval Hospital but can't comment on the lifeboats.
Statute commemorating Norwegian emigrants to America.

Another view across Breiavatnet.

A Stavanger side street.
