    Hello and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts.

    Flashes or garter ties do not have to have any colour in common with the tartan, or anything else for that matter. The MacNeil of Barra Tartan does not have any red in it but I often use red garter ties with my blue hose. It sets off the other colours quite nicely.
