JSF, I believe you are right about made for a woman, but I think most hose can be cuffed easily enough. Much depends on the length of one's shanks, I expect, and the length of one's foot. Unstretched, the wool OTC argyles from this second seller (in a size medium) are 17 inches, heel to top. The last two inches are solid- there is no argyle cuff. I would be willing to sell out my sock integrity for the $75 or so in savings, assuming the color worked. I am curious as to your opinion of the off white with red raker stitch I mention above.
Thanks MacLL

I can't say that I like them. They just don't look like kilt socks to me. They are too fine, not wooly enough...and they are pretty darned white.

With the greatest respect to all, I really cannot believe that anyone really takes all this time about the colour of a pair of socks! If you like the colour, then damn well wear them! Alright, I quite accept that kilt hose can be expensive and not every one wants, needs, or can afford a drawer full. I also fully accept that we all have personal preferences, but really, far too much is made of all this matching up, colour coding nonsense.

I agree. A while back, I realized that I was stating my preferences and way of picking colors in a way that could seem as if I were telling people they should do the same.
I think you know, Jock, what colors someone else is wearing has no effect on me what so ever.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

That's the difference Jock, you and I, we like the lived in look, others prefer the colour co-ordinated pretence as specified elsewhere in this forum, to you and I, it's what we wear, to others it's a custome, plain and simple, each to his own, life and let live, at least we can have a laugh at their expense.
By the way, did I tell you I am now stocking and selling house of cheviot hose at less than rrp ? pm me for details

Sounds like Scotland is the place for color-blinders like me!
