Good photos. Thanks for posting them.

OK...I don't think I'm taking this thread off topic...since it's called Photos of Interest...and I am interested in this pic....

What is the collection of insignia and rosettes that Mr. Walker is wearing here? I see what appears to be two round rosettes without ribbon tails (unique compared to what I usually see) with something that looks similar to a BW crest between them, but in gold, not pewter color. Is this some sort of "official" marking...maybe a regimental association thing? Or is it just his personal representation of his service?

I believe that's a Royal Highland Fusiliers kilt pin. He's also wearing the regimental striped tie, and the cap badge. He has a bagcover with the regimental crest on it as well (at least he did when I heard him at a College of Piping recital in Glasgow).

Here's Gordon Walker in is regimental days:

Now about "rosettes without ribbon tails", the Pipe Major of the Royal Highland Fusiliers for example wears two rosettes on his kilt. These are actual "rosettes", that is, a circular thing with a button in the middle, not to be confused with the bows worn on Black Watch kilts.

Here's Pipe Major Gavin Stoddart of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, where the rosettes can be seen:

and here's a Black Watch kilt were the quite different bows can be seen:
