I wouldn't mess with that sgian. It looks very good in the photos you posted, and basically, a sgian is the blade. Replacing it means it's a new sgian.
The quality of knifework can be seen in the way the blade fits the bolster and the bolster fits the hilt/handle. Then you look carefully at the pommel and the stud threaded onto the end of the threaded rat-tail tang, and yours looks like a very tight fit with almost no visible crack.
The point is, it's quite a job making all those parts fit onto a new blade. Yours looks very nice, so I'd keep it like it is. Or, let one of us buy you a new one give that one up.

Don't replace the blade
Don't buff it
just lightly clean it and leave it the alone
if you want a shiny bladed sgian buy a new one

It's not that I want a "shiny" blade, I would have just preferred that the blade be in the same condition as the rest of it!
I plan on only applying a wax finish and that'll be it now.
