Matt may need to speak to this (as he brought up)....I haven't done it yet, but it looks to me like the fringe is a seperate /"solid" piece that is easily removed and then reattached/wraps around the end (does that make it sense?).
I plan to try it next week.

Off course you didn't Terry, I know that full well.
It's interesting how easy it is to innocently tread on thin ice though.Garters are of course used to keep up shooting hose, it is just that flashes are not by some.
Actually the garter thing is not a "raging" topic here, it is just a very quiet observation thing that instantly puts you into one camp or the other-------the "old school "of "its just not done Old Boy", or the "Johny come lately" team. Of course neither is right or wrong, but it is an instant sign(which is often incorrect!!!!)of your shooting pedigree. Much like one's kilt attire speaks volumes.

And on my side of the Pond a hunter wouldn't think of going out wearing high socks and leaving them exposed to the thorns, briars, mud and who-knows-what-all else that would shred a pair of hose in no time.

http://www.orvis.com/store/product.a...ubcat_id=22683 Yet there are so many choices and ways to tie those little suckers. There are many ways to do things especially when it is for apperance sake and not do to functionallity. There was a fine picture of a Frenchman here that showed the garters being tied around the outside and I found that to be acceptable to my untrained eye.

1. I would wear the garters so that a small piece is showing. the absolute maximum would be 1".
2. I would not even consider wearing shooting socks like that. You may discuss with or without garters, but it does'nt matter since I would have my trousers so that the socks would'nt show much at all.
