Not THAT mel, the other Mel!
Only joking.
Well well I always thought him to be an Aussie, I stand corrected.

Sure he is. Hard to tell early on when he's sitting down, but have a look at about 2:25.

I think that this helps kilts to become more mainstream. Perhaps some Orange County Chopper vans will try wearing kilts now or be more open to others wearing kilts as a manly thing to do. Does Anyone know if there is more to this in the full espisode? Did the OCC crew build a theme bike for this show?

Mel Gibson has lived in Australia and identifies himself with that country almost as much as he does with the US. Naturally that does not make him an expert on the history of either country, let alone Scotland.
I admired and deeply appreciated the work he put into making The Passion of the Christ, and his choice to use the original languages. But he nonetheless committed a monumental blunder when he had Jews speaking Latin to the Romans. Greek was the common language of the eastern parts of the Roman Empire. Pontius Pilate would have spoken Latin to his wife, perhaps to his household servants and (depending on the legion) to his troops, but never to the populace of the Holy Land.
Regarding Paul Teutul snr, I will have another look at the video, but it did look to me as though he was wearing black tights.
There is no crime in not being Scottish. My father had not a drop of British blood in him, and was a quarter German. That did not prevent him from joining the South African Army to fight against nazi Germany.
People used to ask him: “You’re a Squarehead. Why are you fighting the Squareheads?”
It was not a question of ethnicity.

Mike
