Having already one thread on this topic locked, let me just preface my comment with one little point. This is NOT meant to be a debate on any particular religion or set of beliefs, nor discuss the merits/demerits thereof.
This is simple a statement of WHAT I understand the situation to be, from my personal perspective.
I put up the following comment on FB recently, in the wake of the lack of Doomsday.
It was very clear that the preacher who predicted the end of the world (and the many who came before him) have a very flawed understanding of the Bible and what it says. In fact, that's why I opted to write this note today. Many who don't associate themselves with Christianity (or even those who do but aren't that familiar with some of the passages in the Bible) may be asking themselves: "So why WASN'T it possible for the world to end on May 21? Why didn't mainstream Christians believe this prophesy?"
Quite simply put, there is not just one, but numerous places in the Bible where it tells us that WE will NOT know when that day will be. In fact, it states that even Jesus doesn't know when that day will be! And that's something!
The best thing (and really the only thing) we can do, is simply ensure that no matter when the end of the world happens (or doesn't), that we are "right" with God, and that our hearts are prepared! Otherwise, it's best to leave the date-circling to the nutjobs! And when you see Jesus walking toward you one day... Try to look busy!
Matthew 24:36-44 says:
36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. 42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Mark 13:32
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
Luke 12:40
You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
So if anyone starts telling me that they KNOW when the end is coming, I can say with confidence that they are mistaken. I am also a firm believer in a short passage from the Old Testament that reads:
29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29.
The things that God wants us to know -- He teaches us. And the end of the world is HIS bailiwick -- not ours.

The Rapture has been rescheduled for October 21st.
For those of you who don't have a proper kilt for the event, you should have enough time to order one if you do it quickly!

This thread has been reported as a violation of Rule 5 which expressly prohibits religious discussion on this forum.
Gentlemen, you should be aware that a previous thread was closed for the same reason and that there are plenty of other fora on the web where you can discuss the rapture.
Thread moved to Cooling Off Corner.

Quoted from our Guiding Principles;
"We understand that as a kilt specific forum our chosen subject of discussion is not the complete spectrum of life. Over the years we have found certain subjects always seem to result in discord. Therefore, we respectfully ask our members to remember that this is a kilt forum and leave their Politics, Religion and Weapons at the door."
