Re: A few kilt wearing questions

Just arrived in Denver after a full 12 hours behind the wheel, across the rezlands, northern New Mexico and up I-25. Had three brief stops for gas etc. Wore my RKilt green leather kilt - never a problem with overheating or circulation. Did have the blowers on from time to time as mentioned. Anyhow, can vouch for 12 hours driving in a leather kilt not being any problem.

Re: A few kilt wearing questions

That's some hard driving. That's why I got a dog on board preventing myself from driving longer than 3 hours & taking a "puppy-dog" break.

My issue is I consume my 14 hour clock before consuming my 11 hour drive & it's not from driving hard. Usually 1 or 2, 100 mile trips from/to Chattanooga,TN.
Lolligagging it with rest areas walking the dog thrown in between appt times. (I get paid by the load not by the mile & FUSU is paying good.)

That's why I am curious about the wrinkle factor. I'm "sitting" for very long periods but it's not because I'm driving hard for long periods behind the wheel.... I have 2 rest areas in either direction to break up the 100 miles enroute to customer on I-24 for my dog to enjoy.

Re: A few kilt wearing questions

Well, wrinkles depend mostly on how you arrange the kilt when you sit...there are a number of old threads on that from towels to swivel seats.

As far as the best fabric, from my experience it would be leather RKilts or 16 ounce wool hand sewn by Kathy Lare or another well trained kiltmaker.

Here's a pic of me in a wool kilt (Macdonald of Kingsburgh) after a four hour drive to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

With those regular breaks it seems 16 ounce wool would have a chance to hang out a bit...remember in a hand sewn kilt sewn the way Kathy was trained much of where you are sitting on the kilt will still be well sewn together.

I find my kilts wrinkle most from sitting near the bottom from being under my legs and that part is easy to arrange to avoid wrinkies if I think about fixing the kilt before I drive off.
