Hey! Slamming a sportster is un-sportsmanlike. Those bikes are great! Especially now that all the new models have rubber engine mounts like their bigger brethren. I once rode on the older model for about 800 miles and it was still comfy and fun. Plus, the sportster is far more nimble than the bigger models...therefore they are more versatile than the big models. Quick tour around the neighborhood..no problem! Longer trip with some saddle bags will work too. Also, the sportster gets much better gas mileage than the twins. And finally: get a sportster 1200, not the 800. And one more thing from my wife: any motorcycle is still a motorcycle; but is it worth giving up kilts? If you really want to wear your wife out, get the cycle and then wear a kilt whilst riding the cycle...of course I think this has bee brought up in other threads :-)

Congrats on working things out with your wife, and welcome to the wonderful world of Sportsters! You'll love the bike, I sure do.

Isn't that why trews were invented?

Aggresive negotiations about the kilt? I don't think I like the sound of that! It's that sex demand wasn't it? I was just about to send cavscout airfare to negotiate on my behalf for that sex thing but not if my kilts hang & wave in the balance .

The answer to your question is simple: How would you come to an amicable solution if there was no exchange of one thing for another?

My wife has had a look at this thread, and says:
If I had even tried to offer her a sports car to make her stop wearing trousers, she would have kept the trousers and given me the boot!
