Besides my standard black balmoral I also wear any of several flat country caps in either appropriate tartan or tweed, depending on the accompanying attire. I also have several colored balmorals (including jacobite blue) and a dark green Irish caubeen that were handmade by ramscraig and bought off ebay at a reasonable price(for custom made custom sized all wool caps). There is a short wait of a couple weeks plus cross ocean shipping time but it isn't too long.

Google "P&J Haggart,Aberfeldy" go to their hat section(ignore most of their hat labels!)find their "Bugatti" cap. I cannot speak too highly of this bit of kit. We use them in the winter on the hill and without being silly, they have saved some tricky situations with preventing heat loss etc. more than a few times.

All these pictures in the snow have me thinking just one thing: how do you keep your ears warm? That is always one of the first places the cold seems to affect me.

Me, too. So I tend to stay inside and drink a lot of scotch.

Agreed, Dave. If I'm going to be outdoors for any length of time, it's a knit cap, pulled down over my ears.

I'm thinking I might buy one of those "bomber" style hats this year.
