Thanks, Barb. Got a PM from ThistleDown about splitting an 8 meter piece that he is sending directly to you for you to work you magic, and I am going to split that pice with him and hope you can work the same magic for me. We have talked before re: pricing so I think we are good there unless things have changed in the last couple months. I have sent with him my contact info to forward on. Get in touch with me when you need a deposit on the labor charges and we can talk specific measurements then.
By the way, I did get that special weave 16oz Allen 1996 tartan from Dalgliesh via HOS over the holidays. Due to financial constraints and other opportunities like this one I have decided to hold onto that fabric for now and get the other stuff that is in the pipeline finished up before having the Allen made up for me. Do you do a Kingussie style knife pleat kilt? I like the look of hte one I saw on xmts a while back and it seem like a unique look that might be worth looking into. Thanks again.
Hope you find somebody else to split some tartan with. would hate to see a tartan junkie denied a great fix like this deal.

Lucky man, ThistleDown, beat me to it.
So I have just bought a four metre piece of Maple Leaf which I am having shipped direct to Scotland and will see what a local kiltmaker can do with it.
A Tewkesbury kilt will have to wait till some other time.
Thanks for the heads up Alan H.

To my Canadian Friends:
My GGGrandfather emigrated from Scotland to the Red River Colony (now Winnepeg), married there before returning to Scotland and later emigrating to new Zeland. Do I qualify to wear the Maple Leaf, and what hockey team should I support?

Most certainly you qualify, and might I suggest you follow the Leafs. That way you'll have plenty of time in the spring, what with not having to watch the play-offs.

I talked to Steve at Freedom Kilts yesterday and commissioned him to make me an 8 yarder from the Maple Leaf available from F&K. If anyone wants to jump in on that so Steve can order 8 meters of the 2x width to get a better cut, call him right away.
This is assuming there is any cloth left...it sounds like the X-Markers may have drained that well.

If I was not going on 2 trips this spring I would split that with you in a heartbeat Chrisss. That is going to be one great looking kilt.

Hmmm....Scotland, Canada, Scotland, New Zealand...
I'd say you would only qualify to wear it one fourth of the time.
But...what would I know?
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

I spoke to Gordon on Tuesday afternoon and ordered 8 meters of the Maple Leaf Tartan.
This way there will be no need to hem.
The second half of the fabric is already spoken for.
Gordon said that the response from the forum has been great and he only has approx. 4 meters left.
