Bottom, top, middle.
I find it easier to put on the hose, flashes, brogues, sgian dubh first. This way I don't wrinkle the shirt or the pleats on my kilt whilst seated on my chair adjusting the accouterments for the lower appendages. The shirt is next, followed by the kilt, sporran, and kilt belt, then the tie if one is worn, followed by the jacket, glenngarry, and out the door.

Visions of Lee Marvin's magnificent scene dressing as Kid Chilene in Cat Balleu....
Me, I put the kilt on last - don't want to muss it up.

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

I'm just happy if I get it all on with the top things being on top and the bottom things on the bottom.

LOL that reminded be of something that took place years ago. I had an employee that had a preferred style of shoe the he like and he would get a pair in black for uniform wear and a pair in brown. Anyhoo-one morning he shows up for work wearing one black shoe and one brown shoe. So I said to him, "So Steve, looks like you got dressed in the dark," He replied "Um yeah, I didn't want to turn on the light and disturb Sandy 'cuz she got home from work late. Hey-how did you know I got dressed in the dark?" I pointed down at his feet and replied " I bet you got another pair of shoes just like those at home don't you?"
A few minutes later I could hear him on the phone in the Briefing room leaving a message on his home answering machine "Honey, when you get this message, I need you to bring my black shoe to the station-Please?"
