Order of Dress
Jamie just reposted Matt's article on how to get dressed, but the thread cannot be commented on. I just wanted to say that where Matt says to start with the shirt then the kilt before hose, I almost always start with hose, flashes, and then shoes before anything else. This is probably a matter of personal preference, but I find it's easier to put them on without the interference of the kilt.
Regards,
Rex.

I think I agree, Rex; the kilt is the last item to go on. However, if I will be wearing a jacket and tie, the tie goes on after the kilt, and the jacket goes on after the tie.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Actually, as long as I put on a shirt before the kilt, I'm good. I often put on my hose and shoes after I don the kilt. Sometimes before, but most often after. I stand and put one foot at a time on a "foot-locker" chest at the end of the bed, so there's no interference with the kilt putting on footwear.

Rex's preferred method is similar to my own. Stuff on the top (t-shirt, shirt) first, stuff on the bottom (hose, flashes, sgian, shoes) next, then the stuff in the middle (kilt, sporran, belt). Then add accessories like a tie, jacket, etc. Top it all off with your preferred head covering and away you go!

What about my blue ribbon? When should I put that on?

No no no, you have to have a lady put it on. Just try not to get arrested as you walk around with said ribbon asking them to put it on you.

I have nothing to say about that.

Aren't you supposed to win some mysterious competition before you get the ribbon tied on?
