Oh how about the original Wicker Man with Edward Woodward, Britt Ekland and Christopher Lee? Christopher Lee wears a wonderful Montrose Doublet as Lord Summerilse, note the diced hose.

Both you and MoR are correct. As told in his autobiography (The Moon's a Balloon) he put down kilted Highland regiments as his first two preferences and "anything but the HLI" as his third choice. The Army in its infinite wisdom, of course, commisioned him into the HLI! He goes on to tell of his first interview with his new CO who was sitting reading his personal file with the damming preference form at the top!

Very true, but there were no Highland regiments, or even companies, at Ft William Henry. No 42nd (as seen in the movie), or 77th or 78th - all that were in North America at the time.
But, like I said, why spoil the beauty of the thing - its good to see kilts in the film.

Not a kilt, but the new "Year One" movie with Jack Black and Michael Cera has Highland Coos in it.

Swashbuckler, their is a pirate in the rigging wearing the kilt . That is one of the more obscure kilt reference in a movie
