Movies with Kilts.
OK we've had a listing of the 10 best war movies so now, how about a list of the 10 best movies with Kilts in them. I submit for consideration...Waterloo, Tunes of Glory, Wee Geordie, Rob Roy, Braveheart,Last of the Mohicans, Wee Willie Winkie, Gunga Din, Drums and Bonnie Scotland.

YES!
One of the best films from the directors of my favourite film ever, A Matter of Life and Death (called Stairway to Heaven in the US)

The Fast Lady;
The Ghost Goes West;
Putting the Pants on Philip;
Shallow Grave;
Country Dance (Which is just AWFUL, but does star Peter O'Toole in what may be his only kilted film role-- and, although set in Scotland, the picture was filmed in Ireland.);
On Her Majesty's Secret Service; (which many regard as one of the very best Bond pictures)
Rob Roy, The Highland Rogue;
Casino Royale, in which I seem to recall David Niven in a kilt...
Mrs. Brown;
Bonnie Price Charlie, also starring David Niven. The picture was panned, and perhaps the best review was that "as Bonnie Prince Charlie, Niven rallies the clans in a voice barely loud enough to summon a waiter."

David Niven wore the kilt a few times, it seems. Did I read somewhere that on being asked which Highland regiment he wanted to join he replied 'anything but the HLI', because they wore trews not kilts. Possibly apocryphal, possibly misremembered, but another reason to admire David Niven...

Actually, Niven was commissioned into the HLI when he graduated from Sandhurst in 1930. He resigned his commission in 1934, but returned to service (now with the Rifles) in 1939, when Britain entered the war.
