Laphroaig 10 year is excellent as is Bruichladdich sherry edition. For a peatier whisky Bowmore17 year. My favorite is Laphroaig 15 year.

Slainté that! ah, Laphroaig will put hair on your chest...but as a staple, I choose Bowmore Legend, at about $28 a bottle it's the best smoky taste for the money. *tip* drink it on a misty overcast day, it taste even better ith:

YYYEEEahh! And peat, and salt, and iodine. "With precocious notes of fresh apple, road tar, and iguana" -- as some wag once said. Seriously, though, those two are perennial favourites at Casa Los Hippie Anejo.

Tough choice between Tobermory, Auchentoshan, an Aberlour 16 that I tapped direct from the cask during their distillery tour, and Bunnahabhain. Think I will have a taste of all of them, slowly and in sequence.

Just in case anyone hasn't noticed there is a Social Group speciically set up on this forum site for kilties who like single malts, namely SMALL (Single MALt Lovers in kilts). If you haven't yet joined but have posted here you should check it out and consider joining. This is the kind of discussion we could have there on an ongoing basis, instead of an intermittent thread.
For those who are not aware of the Social Groups take your mouse to the top right of the page, where under your login name on the blue band is a label "Quick Links". Pull the drop down tab to see the list and about halfway down is a listing or social groups. Click there, check out all the many social groups you can join, then click on the "join group" link of any that interest you and "voila'", you are a member.

So far my favorite is Glengoyne 30 years. I won a bottle by bid. Other than that I love Aberlour A'bunadh. After those two . . . . . .almost any single malt that I have in my hand at the time is my favorite!

I do remember hearing something about that, yet my mind wondered. Thanks for the mind joggle.
