Perhaps, just perhaps, but which one????
So, My one and only is off for adjustments, fortunately to be taken in, not let out!
Which led me to the consideration of, answering the ever present call for scratching that persistent itch....and no I didn't mean a visit to the doc, I mean ...yes....another kilt.
This led me to wonder, so here is my wandering wondering:
I am thinking box pleat to portray an earlier look, that much is easy. I know that Baron Kilmarnock, chief of the Boyd clan wore Stewart.I have been told that the Chief of the Stewart clan requested that septs wear old Stewart. There is also the theory that the Boyd's originated from Butte, so there is Stewart of Butte. The Boyd's also merged into the Hays after Cullodon, so there is the Hay. Last but not least the Ayrshire district tartan, which was just recently approved, looks very much like the MacKenzie tartan, quite beautiful in my opinion, and is also the district in which Kilmarnock is located.
Now, I am leaning toward Ayrshire district, if for no other reason then it offers a complete switch from the bold red!
I do realize the truth of the historical fact that tartans were really a "whatever the weaver had" situation, but still I enjoy some relevance, and I am feelin like a kid in a candy store!
