    As Kev says, it's probably for casual wearers who want to evoke the look of a Great Kilt, without having to roll around on the ground to put it on.

    I actually like how it looks on the models, but SK is a California thing (warm weather anyway), and here we get real winter weather. Snow even! So a plaid works for me.

    SK has offered those for years... You see a lot of guys at renfaires going for the 'Braveheart' look with the Sportkilt and sash combo.
