Funny you should ask that, I wondered that myself. I was a big fan of Northern Exposure though so I think the Kilt might have got me to Monarch but the quirky characters is what keeps me (at least for the first two seasons on DVD).

I know I would. I'm pretty sure that Duncan wasn't in the first episode I saw, and I still really liked it. I'm a big fan of the dramedy, so it's right up my alley.

Yes, I enjoy the show, but Duncan is not a big drawing card for me. Personnally I think the character is a bit of a goof (sorry, but I do.) I am glad that kilts play a role in the show (on more than one character), but it is the story and the quircks that keep my interest. Hearing all the changes that take place between the end of series 2 to the current day, almost makes me leary of watching further, as it seems like they may be grasping for storylines.........I could be wrong, but I would have liked to see Archie stay in the path he seemed to start accepting in series 1 and 2.

I just caught a portion of an episode a few nights ago. I've also added series 1 to my Netflix queue. I really enjoyed what I saw, and it has caught my attention. I now have my VCR set to record the show every week.

Oh, yes, I would. It is just my sort of programme and is such a refreshing change: no unnecessary sex scenes, no foul language, gorgeous scenery, etc., etc.
The first series or two were based on the famous stories by Sir Compton Mackenzie but then, when the producers had used all they could, brand new story lines had to be written around the same leading characters. Some of those tales have become slightly thin, but it is still a programme well worth watching.
Note for Graham: In the first episode of the latest series, Lexie returns for a visit from New Zealand, where she went with Archie, and it looks like she has persuaded Duncan to go out there to be with them both. So, he could be moving to your part of the world (in a manner of speaking!) before the series ends in Mid-November.

Yup. When the school teacher was on, she was nice to look at... as was Lexy. The Dad (Hector) was GREAT before he died. That idiot neighbor (Killwillie) is a scream.
I know that a load of the guys like Duncan, but I'm partial to the straight-shooting Golly. I can relate a whole lot more to his character.
Just saw it again today at noon, and will watch it tonight at 9:00... around the halftime of Monday Night Football. Addictive show!

I don't mind admitting that Golly scares the living hell out of me. His voice sounds so low and menancing, combined with the poker face, I'm just waiting for him to explode and kill the lot of them.
