I like the Jacobite look, esp. with the jacket. I will eventually acquire both.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

No. It just conjures up all the wrong images for me Therefore I prefer not to wear one and never will

Jacobite shirts are the prefered thing tae wear wi' yur kilt when gaein' 'casual'...
it is a hale "casual" luek... (like Prince Charlie is a "formal" luek)
there are Jacobite Vests an Jacobite Jeekets made tae gae wi' the shirts...
they come in a' kinds o' colours... soft brushed cotton, standard cotton, poly, an even silk....
here arr twa lads in Jacobite shirts in Dumfries on Hogmanay...

Now THOSE I could see myself wearing! I hope I didn't come across as negative---the ones I see here in the Continental United States seem more costumey (by far!) than the ones those two lads are sporting.
I've a number of handmade shirts, collarless, with buttons that close in the front. (I remember a dustup over what "button down" meant, so I'm not using the term!) They have become my general purpose kilting shirt (when I'm not wearing a polo/golf or t-shirt.)
It's all good . . .
