I met Robin Blair when he was still the Lord Lyon. I could take him down if he happened to get rowdy.

I have a curios question. Where would I find a list of positions in Britain. I've googled but I'm not sure what to even call those positions like " Lord Lyon" I'm just curious as what positions there are and what the job actually entails.

Probably the best thing to do is get yourself a copy of Keepers of the Kingdom. You should be able to pick up a used copy on ebay or Amazon for under $25.00. You might also check to see if it is available at your local library, or if they can get a copy for you.

    Hi wyldathart,

If you want to search on-line, you could try this -

    http://www.royal.gov.uk/TheRoyalHousehold/Overview.aspx

    and from Wikipedia, search -

Royal Households of the United Kingdom

You might also want to search for 'Royal Warrant Holders'. These are people, or businesses, who supply goods or a service to members of the Royal Family.

    Regards

    Chas

    Gents, ladies, lads, lasses:

Sir Fitzroy MacLean was a rare man among men, a scholar, a soldier, a spy----if you've not read "Eastern Approaches" you are, I shall assert, the poorer for it.

As Dashiell Hammett said in an entirely different context, he's the kind of man whose pocket you'd be proud to pick.

Having read some of his ouerve (sp?), I can say that seeing the gentleman photographed I saw exactly that kind of man I would have expected.

Would that the picture showed him in a kilt!
