It's been my observation that those who really have the standing and authority to be offended by something as simple as this are usually the ones who wisely choose to just brush it off and not make a big show about it. Why get your knickers in a twist over something so inconsequential?
Some of us, myself included, might take the opportunity to make what we hope is a funny comment but to take actual offence at this fella's chronologically challenged outfit? Naaaaaah.
I don't even get offended when I show up kilted and get lectured by some guy with a few too many shots of whisky in him who's laying a shipload of "historical facts" about his clan and his tartan and Scottish history on me that I know are the popular fantasy version of stuff that we've kicked around here on the forum. (And thanks to the resident historians that keep us honest on that stuff!) Oh yeah, buddy...suuuuure...that tartan has been in your family for thousands of years...uh huh.
I think that we should create an Xmarks initiative to set up a booth at all Highland Games with one of our authorities seated behind a sign that reads: "The Historical Accuracy of Your Outfit Critiqued Here! $1." In the rare eventuality that we ever actually get any takers on this, we could toss the money into an Xmarks beer fund...

Since it appears he has no hands, perhaps someone dressed him that way and there was nothing he could do about it.

If the kilt is to be considered an article of clothing, then we need to let people wear them as they want. There are no rules for jeans!
I agree that he looks ridiculous, but I also think that jeans sagging down to show your *** are ridiculous. I just don't get why some folks get their knickers in a knot over it! If the person asks for advise, give it freely. Maybe he wanted to really "shock and awe"

That's all fine and dandy, but when was the last time you saw a guy walking around in jeans carrying a sword and brace of pistols? Even if it were legal, it would still be a tad ridiculous.
