Here's a couple of bad ideas my wife like to joke about...
Zebulon Hazard Matthew (Nickname HazMatt)
Xaqre (pronounced "Zachary")
Twins would either be Mike & Ike or Ren & Stimpy
You could do what my parents did and "gaelicise" a name that is already in your family... We have several Johns in our family... so I'm Sean (Irish) and my brother is Evan (Welsh).

Jock:
My daughter is expecting a son any moment now. She is married to a Scot in Edinburgh and her husband is also insisting on Alisdare (or however he spells it.) This is causing some consternation with the daughter as they plan to move back to the States as soon as the green card caper is all straightened out. You see, my daughter has, apparently, more than a couple of friends who have daughters named Allister and she doesn't want "junior" to have "girl's name!"
Personally, in my opinion, Robert or Riobeard are top qualifiers.

Some one needs it explained to them that that is a man's name.

Does she have an objection to Alasdair Matthew? I like it. Alasdair being the Gaelic for Alexander. Mattthew a good solid saint's name. Possible nicknames 'Al' or 'Matt.' Little room for teasing because of an unusual name.

I've always been partial to Declan and Malachai. Someone here will know better than I but I've heard that the Scottish tradition is to name the first son after the father's father and the second son after the mother's father. (Italians do the opposite).

A shaman once told me, the other side makes sure you get the right name, so don't worry about it and the name will come to you when you need it. That being said, Zia and Zoy, sound like good girl names...

In my childhood some neighbors (classics scholars evidently) had a boy and a girl named Primus and Secunda respectively. Their next child was a girl whom they named Tertia. Then came a boy named Finis. Only when I studied Latin in High School did I finally get the joke.
