    Thanks Jay

I have three pairs of black and two different green waiting for ends.

And just purchased some red yarn.

    Thanks again on the thread.

I use a similar method. The major difference is that when I loop the tassel I sew it through the strap.

I use the crank version of the spool knitter.

Once I get the yarn set up it takes about 5 minutes too crank out a yarn of strap.

I knit the strap off the spool and sew the end closed.

Then I tread the yarn through the needle. I'm lazy and will loop multiple threads of yarn through the needle, In this case you can see 2 pieces of yarn going through the needle.

I take the end of the strap and hold it so about 1/2 inch over laps the tassel guide.

Each time I make a loop I pass the needle through the strap.

I then wrap the tassel the same way that Jay does making sure that the end of the strap is caught in the wraps. I then trim the ends.

I don't know which is better if there is such a thing I just though I would show another option.

I got one of those cranky machines, but I didn't think the garters looked right, when I finished them.

    Yours look much better!

The yarn is about 17 wraps per inch which is fingering.

If you look at the first picture you can see a blue bag with an "S" hook and a red clip. If I am using worsted weight yarn that is not very slick I use the blue bag. The blues bag has BB's in it and is heavier than the weight that came with the crank. I have to do some hand pulling, until I get about an inch of cord out of the bottom. I still have to watch the process but I can use worsted weight in the crank machine.

You might want to look at the baby yarn it is normally a little smaller.
