I asked Elsie about my 13oz MacBeth and she said that would be fine. Now to arrange the time away from work and lodgings for the week.

Elsie doesn't mind which weight, 13 oz, 16 oz, or heavier, you use. Keep in mind it needs to be wool, not PV, and she does have a decided preference for (wool) fabric from Scottish mills.
Even so, she realizes that XMTS wool tartan comes from F&K in B.C., Canada and she will work with that.
She also offered a kilt length of 16 oz, special weave, Roxburgh tartan already on hand for a killer price. She did not specify which color it was, Green Roxburgh or Red Roxburgh, but they are both gorgeous.
I also have a few kilt lengths of 13 oz tartans on hand (New York City, MacDonald of the Isles O.C., American Heritage, and perhaps others) if anyone is interested in those. And that rascally Wizard may still have a kilt length of 16 oz MacLaren Weathered from Lochcarron (my name was - maybe still is? - associated with it a few months ago )

Ah', thanks Smayniac and W2F. It good to know that 13 oz is a valid option.
Now with this information, I think I will give the Scottish Tartans Museum a call and place an order...

Whoo Hoo! I'm in, I'm in.
Thank you W2F for sending me the info.
Personally I saw others at kilt camp working on tartan that was 16 oz. and it was "Gruesome" to work with....I know you professionals are used to it but for us "Newbes" it looks tough. I am bringing 13 oz. I love the way it feels and changes in my hands....

Four committed on this thread and one or two who have contacted Elsie directly. Still room for a couple more...

When is the associated kilt night? Saturday, March 6th? Because I want to at least get a chance to come and hang with ya'll! I can come up on Saturday night, but wouldn't arrive until after 7 pm.
Be well,
Star

Saturday sounds good! A suggestion for a 'watering hole', is one of my favorite Petaluma hang outs:

Star,
You can grace us with your presence anytime you wish. A Saturday night wind down (or wind up!) after a grueling first day of drilling and grilling will be just the ticket. One of us will even drive you to your "crash pad" as the activities tail off...

p.s. Does this mean I should bring along the Pink Death Camo kilt and matching argyle hose?
