That's a new one on me Chris. Is it recent? Is it available anywhere?

Watched this on Youtube this last few days, and was thrilled to hear the song "A Gordon For Me" featured in it that was written by "Voice Of Scotland" and friend of my grandad, Robert Wilson (I think they were friends anyway, they certainly knew each other! A couple of my great uncles sang in the same choir as Bob too).

Tunes of Glory - Watched this one over the weekend - a great film but depressing - alcohol and firearms should be kept locked up when viewing. Mrs Brown was lighter. I am very glad I am straight else Billy Connolly's outfits could lead me into infidelity ;)

Re: Scottish Movies ?
Just finished watching "Tunes of Glory" (two days ago) and "The Hasty Heart" (last night). Wow, what emotionally powerful stories; to the first "Oh my Gawd!" and the second a real tear jerker. Please tell me that all Scottish movies aren't so sad (like German poems/children's stories). I have been unable to get ahold of "Carry on up The Khyber" which looks (from the little I've seen) somewhat akin to a TV series we had here in the states called "F Troop" about an inept U.S. Cavalry unit set in the west during the "indian wars." Brits had different "Indian wars." Interesting coincidence (about the two series) or?

Re: Scottish Movies ?
Tunes of Glory is not only my favourite Scottish movie it's one of my favourite movies of all time. One of the cool things about it is apparently originally John Mills and Alec Guinness were originally cast in the opposite roles and at some time early in production the Director decided to reverse them.
Both great actors so fully developed the characters they play that I find it hard to imagine how different the movie would have been with the roles reversed. However, it is interesting to think about.

Re: Scottish Movies ?
First time I saw Hasty Heart, I had set the VCR to record a John Wayne movie. I set the VCR to start and just record to the end of the tape and Heart was the next movie up and I watched it by accident. Had the JW movie going, which ended and then the next came on and I was messmerized by it. Great little movie and I'd never heard of it.
If you all haven't seen Hasty Heart, it's worth a look.

Also, if you're into musicals, watch Brigidoon.
It's a Lerner and Lowe musical and has some outstanding music. Takes place in the Highlands and you'll see some Scottish dancing and period dress.
