Yeah, and the remark "Higland attire" is really important, cuz most of the jeans-kilter would avoid wearing a costume at all costs.

Although this photo display was posted several years ago, it is a wonderful presentation for us newbies, some very informative photos to go along with the written word. Thank you for keeping this posted.

Thank you for posting this. Exactly what I need to see on what is suggested and proper to wear for a person as myself that is new to and just in the beginning stages of my kilt wearing days.

Gentlemen,
Absolutely stylin'. Worn with panache and respect. Gotta love a pith helmet.

You two did a wonderful job in providing "user friendly" attire advise. As a newcomer to this kilted society I truly appreciate your efforts and thank you.

I am so glad that something we did over 5 years ago is still being referenced on the forum and that people still see the significance in this. I think if we were to do it again the outfits might be slightly different as I am sure our tastes have both changed over the years. At any rate it is a privilege to have been a help for so many. Thanks again to you all especially Jamie for coming up with the idea that has stood the test of time.

Goodness Glen are you suggesting we do it over and see how 5 years under our belt would have changed our views?

I'm going to be getting my first Black Watch kilt this summer and found the 'looks' here to be very helpful; the question is pleating of the BW.
Does to the stripe or sett look better with a medium weight BW? thanks in advance, Maceairsidh

Maceairsidh I would say pleating is your choice. I think most would pleat Black Watch to the sett however if you do a google search that may help with a decision on pleating, also talk to your kilt maker about it. I am also glad you found this thread helpful.
