So, The majority of the time I've been kilted only at home with the exception of a couple of errands out to the super market and gas stations. Today however, it being Friday, the term "Go big or go home" came to mind and I decided to go to work kilted!! I'm a USG defense contractor that's housed in the "customer Spaces" so there isn't a dress code, per se. Per "our" federal guide lines, as long as you are not causing a distraction, it's pretty much game on. How can you cause a distraction by wearing a kilt??
Anyway, all told, it went very well. Strangers didn't say anything and the majority of the folks in my office were very supportive. Almost every single woman in the office had a comment and 100% of them were in the positive. The guys were the only ones who asked me what I had on under the kilt. What do you expect from a bunch of "deployers?" Comments ranged from, "I think ALL men look good in a kilt" to "you're about the only one in the office who could pull it off" with plenty versions of "Nice Kilt" thrown in for good measure.
Herself even texted me during the day to say that I looked "pretty good" in a kilt at work although cautioning me by saying she hoped it wasn't going to become a habit. Told her that I couldn't promise anything.
I had to celebrate by stopping off at Frisco's Tap House in Crofton, MD for a couple of pints. Said visit did not appear to raise any eyebrows that I could see. All in all, a very good day and I'm only half way through it. I'm so liking this....

Well Done. Going to work Kilted Up does tend to elicit reactions of either admiration or stupidity/crassness (often sprinkled in either case with curiosity and/or bafflement) from coworkers, and it's like grouse hunting--be relaxed but prepared for the unexpected, with response "ammunition" either informatively conciliatory, or unforgivably razor sharp, depending...

'Tis I, The Great Kilted Pumpkin, with Della, my trusty Bichon Frise canine daughter/sidekick, after our annual (Pre-)Halloween Kilt Walk. I'm wearing my Sinclair Hunting Ancient kilt--one of the absolute favourites in my collection--along with a pair of Beretta shooting hose. BOO!

Kilt on, lads. I've been a little under the weather for the last few days. No kilt for me today.
Beretta makes shooting hose?

Got up early this morning, no question put on the kilt. Went out to get a hair cut, breakfast and book store. Only on comment from a lady while I was getting my hair cut. You know the bagpipe question. My better half spoke up before I could and told her NO! that I just like to wear them and that I had several of them both tartan and 511 TDK's. Today was my 511 TDK olive green just right for the rainy weather we are having here in Mississippi.

When my wife and I are out and about together and the silly questions are asked, she usually speaks up first. I usually just ignore the questions, really just not worth my time.

About time!
It's a little past 3 PM here and I've only just gotten kilted for the day. I would have later anyway because I have plans tonight.
Cthulhu tartan, purple Lewis hose, purple sweater vest and a purple/green tattersall shirt. Very matchy matchy.

I didn't get kilted today but ...
I found out my US Army tartan semi-traditional shipped from USAKilts and will arrive Monday - just in time for my birthday on Tuesday and a happy hour on Wednesday - Veterans Day.
And I bought
- a balmoral cap, a glengarry cap and a vest from Things Celtic in Austin.
- a Cameron of Erracht Ancient 5 yard kilt with flashes, an embossed black kilt belt, and highland swirl kilt belt buckle from USAKilts.
- and since I couldn't find mine, a US Army Officers Service Cap Device from USAMilitartyMedals.com

Went for a long, leisurely walk with Della, wearing my Lamont Weathered kilt, a dark grey cable-knit fisherman's sweater with a dark brown cashmere turtleneck sweater underneath, a new pair of dark heather brown cashmere kilt hose, a new dark brown rabbit's fur dress sporran and my trusty black leather double-monk strap knockabout shoes. Della, as usual, wore her white bouclé fur coat...
