1. Roxburgh Red (Ancient)
2. MacArthur (Ancient)
3. Buchanan (you guessed it, Ancient colors here, too)
I started with a Roxburgh Red tank in honor of the birthplace of an immigrant ancestor on my mother's side. He was a Veatch (Veitch) and the family originally had a holding in Dawyck near Peebles and a very long running feud with the Tweedy family. The Veitches were eventually dispossesed with my ancestor's line landing in Roxburgh.
From my father's side, our surname, Carter is a variant of MacArthur and I have an Ancient MacArthur tank in the works... (I'm told the cloth is on its way).
My third Scottish line comes via my mother's dad... his grandmother was born in Edinburgh and was a MacIndoe. An old family bible entry had "Buchanan Clan" scrawled next to her name... and that agrees with a number of lists that show MacIndoe as a Buchanan sept. I'll be asking about that at the Buchanan tent at the upcoming games here... I'd like to add a Buchanan ancient to my "arsenal" as well.

I keep watching this board and I seem to be the only one with a connection to MacQueen. Only it was MacSuibhne when the family left for Ireland.
I only have two kilts...a ten yard tank in Scotland's National and a box pleat in Black MacSween (designed and registered by Matt Newsome but as far as I know not showing up in the STA.)
I like them both. In wouldn't mind having an ancient Ulster in 16 ounce, or a Black Watch in 18-22 ounce and and several others.

My sept is Muir (Moore/More) of Clan Gordon. I own and wear a Gordon to represent my clan, but my favorite tartan still has to be the Nightstalker which is basically a Universal.

For the top three, I'm still going with Bear, Isle of Skye, and XMTS, but there are several more on the BIG list.

My very elderly aunt says our heritage is Irish but also Scottish Campbell.
I’m not sure that she’s right but who would argue with an 84 year old relation?
Fortunately I like Black Watch.
Otherwise I enjoy universal tartans like IoS and USAK’s Firefighters Memorial.
And solids.
I wear some “recent?” clan tartans because I like the colors. Example: Ramsay.

My tartan would be Young M or W, from my mother's side. My father's surname is Scottish as well, but unassociated with a tartan.
As for a favorite, undecided is my nature. I did see a MacGregor W that I really liked a while back.

My tartan is technically the Fraser tartan, since my family name is Simpson and they are under the Fraser clan...BUT!
My top three favorite tartans are: 1. Ireland's national 2. Isle of Skye 3. County Cork
I plan to own all three of those tartans some day, and I'd also like an Irish Saffron.

Fraser
My Clan Kilt is a 16 oz Tank in Fraser Hunting
But I also own:
1 tank in Isle of Skye (Family Ties to Skye)
1 tank in Cornish Hunting (Family Ties to Cornwall)
1 Tank in Stevenson Modern (Worked for a Company with Stevenson ties)
1 Freedon Kilt in Roslyn Chapel(DaVinci Code) (Just thought it was cool)
1 Box Pleat in Chattahoochee (Just thought it was cool)
1 Tank In Johnnie Walker Company Tartan (Used to work for them)
But what I really want is a Fraser Ancient Red
