Dear me...I think some people need to lighten up. He's about as Scots as cuckoo clocks and lederhosen.

So am I- in fact, that's always my answer to the question "So are you Scottish?" when wearing the kilt. "I'm as Scottish as Prince Albert!"
I wasn't offended by the quote in question, but board members CAN be a bit tetchy about disrespecting the Royal Family.
I was simply pointing out that on the internet, and as an anonymous name, comments can be taken badly, and that without smileys or inflection, comments can generate some unneeded grief.
As to the balance of comments, Thank you all.
Irish in Tacoma- best of luck with your endeavor, post pix!

Let's get back onto the sporrans and away from the politics, people.
The OP liked a particular personage's style. Not much more than that is pertinent.

Anyway, I have been cutting some paper models and find even with paper there is a lot of bunching because of the folds on the front face. I tried just cutting v shapes out to get rid of the bulk but it ruins the shape of the folds. Is this just the paper or will the leather do the same thing?
Thanks

My partner is German and my son has a German passport so I've certainly no problem with that! I'm just quite pleased that I inhabit a different world to the English aristocracy and their peculiarly narrow definition of "Scottishness"
Nice work, BTW, if I forgot to mention it before... ;c)

rtc, welcome to the 'petal fold'. I could try and explain my frustration with figuring the pattern out, but it's best to look back at the blog.
In the end I had 4 patterns for the one piece. Cut size, skiving pattern, one for the size and depth of the folds, and one as a 'finish size' pattern.
Leather WILL be worse than the paper, I'm sorry to say.
