    Tales from the Workshop

We have had a few Pm’s about our Sporrans – For that lads we thank you.

We have however not been standing still. We had some feedback from Hamish that we just had to address.

The sporrans we have now made are Same, but not same. We have tried different methods to stiffen the sporran without making it totally stiff. This makes it easier to use the Suitcase.Eeer! sorry Sporran ,and the sporran keeps it’s shape better.

We have tried 3 ideas 2 are in our opinion good enough to show you lads. As you can see from the pictures the backs have been stiffened a lot. We have both sewn a stiffener insideand the other on outside to try the difference ….We can’t decide.
The black we have also stiffened the front too.
We have also positioned the hanger a little higher up to adjust the centre of gravity ....(So it hangs better) there is also plenty of room for a nomal belt too.

Thoose that are lucky to have one of our sporrans will notice the difference.

And yes they are for sale….Pm me.
    All the Best.....David.

    David,

My opinions were just my own thoughts - I had no idea you would act upon them!!

I have to say, though, that I very much like the 'new look' of the sporrans, and the new, wider, backs are just as I envisaged them. I have achieved a similar effect by inserting a cut-to-shape piece of plywood inside the sporran. It takes up some space - but there was more than enough for my needs, not owning a mobile phone, a portable CD player or a tool box!!

My sporran drawer now contains eleven sporrans so I don't really need another at the moment, but the next purchase will be a 'black'.

    Thanks again, for everything.

    David,

I cannot stop looking at those wonderful works of art! My drooling has not stopped.

Seeing how good Santa will be to me this year, but for sure will be getting one, as I have been very very good this year

Those new sporrans look great David! You and Sten Rune just keep making them better and better. I love the fact that you guys actually sit and make these by hand, one by one. What could compliment a traditional handsewn kilt better than a handsewn sporran!

We Drink lots of Coffe and sit by the Log fire in Sten Runes basement ...It's very social and we learn from each other.

As I've said before they are all for sale. We do have problems letting go somtimes .......But then we never know what we'll get up to with the next we make.

Thats the beauty of it all. The different grain in the leather and the shapes in the antler are all individual.

This is what makes it fun. Many have asked me about sporran belts.Yes we will be supplying them But please give us a little time.Rudi or Bear Can maybe help you with a belt( I've not asked ,I just hope they can)

I've said That Craigie Was and is an Inspiration for me (I love the Falconer) . So I'm a little sad to read her service is a little slow. But quality does take time ...We do it for a hobby.. So give her some room mates we are used to waiting for kilts anyway( Ok not You Graham)

So if you wait a little while Sten Rune and I will be back with a Sporran belt Option in late January
    All the Best.....David.

    Mcnice,

Off cause you can get/wear it without the horn.

David and I are trying to make, or get some one to make, a item in metal for the sporran. Saying that maybe the X mark kilt pin in a smaller size could be nice.

    Regards
    Sten.

Agree about Craigie...was patient...improvised with a WalMart belt when it came time to don my Freelander Sporran with my new Kathy's Kilt.

Sadly, somehow she shipped chain belts rather than full leather as talked about at length and ordered.

Thought I was more than polite in addressing the issue, she didn't at first, then agreed I was within bounds and it was she who was edgy from all the storms she endured and the horror that comes with it.
Still weird to be refused as a future customer because she shipped the wrong product.

Bottom line, I still waited patiently for five weeks (she called me after four weeks to verify the order), but when the goods came in they were not as ordered.

Robert at RKilts was nice enough to offer to fit some in for me, I accepted the offer, and they're enroute to me now.

Guess the point is, adding belts to your offerings will hopefully prevent others from enjoying similar adventures.

Sue certainly is a nice lady and makes wonderful products. That of course leads to the "Utilikilt Syndrome" of production problems...and then having them exacerbated by holiday orders.

I've been on the other side of such growth myself and understand it. But shipping the wrong product is a different deal.

    Peace
