Good question Turloch, I am not sure there is an accurate way to tell that condsidering the number of different kiltmakers.
I would go on the fact that new kiltmakers are popping up everyday that the market for kilts is good though.

I think that would be very hard to say as many of the people that wear kilts still buy kilts from Scottland exclusivly.
With that being said I still would agree that the market is strong and that it is growing. If not only do to people wanting to wear kilts. In todays times many peoplee feel the needs to get intouch with there roots and understand where there "people" came from. I am sure this can be seen at Celtic/Scottish Festivals and the increse in attendance. Also the Female version of the kilt is very popular in young girls, well atleast in the South east i have noticed.

the market is clearly growing, but there is no good measure.
would any of the kiltmakers be so bold as to share sales figures of their products?

SO MANY of the kilts over here are ordered from domestic companies, that "piece-out" the kilts to overseas. Others are ordered and bought there directly. Then there are small shop kiltmakers that do GREAT work, but in small quantities that you'll never find out (like Highland Heritage). As for US companies, you would be best advised to contact them individually, and let them know what project you're working with. Getting an HONEST answer is FAR from guaranteed from a few however.
AmeriKilt, UtiliKilts, SportKilts, Buzz Kidder, CheapKilts, SavannahKilts, StillwaterKilts, NeoKilts, USAKilts, KingKilts, KiltMart, Thump Music, eBay vendors, and other "internet only" companies are just the tip of the ice berg! There are literally HUNDREDS of celtic shops and rental-sellers that are out there.
GOOD LUCK!!!
