    Not alone Downtown

    Greetings all,

I was having a busy day running around and just plain going about all my tasks. I was late for a lunch appointment downtown and was walking briskly along when I heard the sound of pipes floating in my ears. Was I imagining, was it real, it could not be, but it was true.

A bagpiper in true street musician style was playing the bagpipes. I have never seen this piper before (which really does not surprise me), but on the corner two kilted gents stood. One playing his tunes and the other listening knowing that I would be late for lunch anyway.

Had a rather large amount of doubletakes with two kilts and one bagpipe.

We have a piper that busks quite often in downtown Ottawa. There is also a celitic fiddle group that is seen every so often.

It sure makes a nice change from out of tune guitars.

    KC Piper...

Very cool! I ran into a "Street Piper" While in Kansas City, Mo.
Was that at the Plaza in KC? The Tommy H. store there used to pay a piper to play outside their doors; I saw him back in 1996, and it turns out he was one of the models in the old J. Higgins catalog.

    Cheers,

    T.

I just remembered that one of the Scottich pubs in the Byward Market quite often has a piper playing out front. A great tourist attraction.

Yep, that's sounds about right. We used to love to go to Emils, the little German restaurant and deli -- great beer & wursts! Sadly, they closed down a number of years ago.

    Cheers,

ALthough not a Piper, But I saw an Utilikilt wearing Punk in Downtown Vancouver this morning. I was also kilted as well. We greeted each other and he continued his way and I continued my way to a networking breakfast.

    Missouri...

Are you from that part of MO?
Nope. I'm from Springfield, Mom's from Northern Iowa & Dad's from Arizona. I used to go see some friends of mine who lived in Lawrence, and we used to go over to KC sometimes.

My wife lived in KC, though...Grandview, Lenexa, Tonganoxie (sic?)

    Cheers,

    T.
