Thanks, all! Well, how could I stay away when no fewer than three people from this board sent me an invite.
Beerbeque, yes I have attended the SMHG echyear for at least the past eight. I'm always at the Scottish Tartans Museum tent, that's right near the hospitality tent (lucky us).
Usually when we go to the games we bring our computer, tartan swatches, and reference material and help people find their tartan, etc. But the past few years the SMHG folks have been kind enough to allow us to bring a bit of our gift shop inventory down. We use that weekend as a fund raiser to generate some operating revenue for these slow Smoky Mountain winters.
So yeah, you've seen me there most likely. In fact, we have photos from last year's games up on our web site. Go to:http://www.scottishtartans.org
Scroll down to where it says "Latest Updates" and click on "Highland Games Photos." That's us at the SMHG.
And in case anyone is interested in the Stone Mountain Highland Games, you can go to http://www.smhg.org
They are my favorite large games, hands down. (I also enjoy the smaller festivals).
Aye,
Matt

Welcome to the forum Matt. What a coincidence that just last night I followed a reference from one of the postings on this forum to one of your sites. I must say I'm very impressed with both your knowledge and your ability to convey that knowledge. Although we can be an independant and opinionated bunch we are, nonetheless, hungry for solid information. Thanks for joining our happy band.

Matt,
We usually encourage newcomers to jump in any time they feel like it. In your case..............
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the information and your perspective.
It's great to have another layer of depth on kilts.
