    Not a real kilt?

I was walking through the city in a USAK traditional when a guy passed me and said "that's not a real kilt!"

Without hesitation I replied "Oh yes it is!!" but I was left wondering what the heck was on his mind.

    Australians are a weird lot!

I had a similar experience a few days ago. As I don't own a kilt yet, I rented one and wore it to a Scottish dinner at the church where there are quite a few scottish ex-pats. One of them commented that I had a "Real" kilt. She went on to say that it had the deep pleats.
Perhaps your detractor felt the pleats weren't deep enough? Another possibility is that "Real" kilts have a 2" rise above the belt line.
I'm just guessing at this, so don't take it as gospel.

Ricky, y probably the guy probably wouldn't know a proper kilt from a womans skirt.

I did think it was an unusual comment, he was most likely just trying to be clever.
A USAK 8 yard kilt is as real as they get, so I don't care!

I find that, sometimes, when you catch them looking, they feel compelled to say something, which is usually nothing. I have often found that those with the least to say talk the most. Present company excluded, of course.

I wonder if it was the lack of "Scottish" accessories that caused the remarks.

I sure don't believe that anyone could mistake your USAkilt(s) for other than what it(they) truly is(are).
