    Uk narrow Appron?

I have a serious kilt jones cooking up and, I am the type of person that wants it now. I am eye'n a couple kilts but one of them is a UK off the scratch and dent list. The question is for anybody that has one of them, does the narrow appron grow on you? That is the only thing making me hesitant about it.

    Miah,

It only takes a minute to get used to it, still not like a full fledged apron, but it does do the job.

No problem, never pay attention to it. Have 8 UKs and all have about a 9"wide front apron. Deal is that the "pleats" come all the way around front on each side. Think it actually makes it look more "kilty" and less "skirty" from the front.

Also, when sitting down, the weight of the narrow apron and the front pleats lets the narrow apron drop between the legs...less accidental free shots.

Only way to know for sure, try one.

The narrow apron gets between my legs when I walk and annoys me. I wear my UK all the time at work, but I could never do any hiking in it. Then again, as others have said, that "getting between your legs-ness" is a good thing when you flop down in a seat.

Eventhough I MUCH prefer to look and feel of a more authentic kilt, the UtiliKilt is very comfortable. The thinner apron only comes into play, like Andrew said, when you're doing a load of walking or dancing. If you're just wearing it for everyday, normal human stuff... you'll love it. My advise on UtiliKilts is simple: IF you get the heavier material, DO NOT sit on anything hard. The sewn-down pleats will cut into your backside like a Ginsu.

I hike in my UKs a lot. Don't notice any different effects than in my other brand kilts with wider aprons.

Andrew, maybe my thighs are fatter than yours

Only hiking problem is the fire helmet chaffing, and that's with any kilt without a long tailed shirt, bodyglide, or other soft cloth protection.

Of all the problems you may have with UK, wearing them ain't one.

I wear my UK's hiking and walking all the time. Never had a problem with the apron getting between my legs. Of course I take long strides and so 'kick' out the material quite a bit while walking. In fact the wider apron of a traditional kilt is somewhat restrictive when I'm really moving.

I've never noticed a problem with the pleats poking my backside either, and I mostly wear my workmans. I do sit so that the pleats are pretty flat under me though, but thats mainly to inhibit wrinkling.

In fact the only problem I have with the wearing of a UK is that in narrow chairs the cargo pockets are in the way. Even then its not as bad as if I was in cargo pants and had loaded pockets, and fortunately I can just flop them around to sit where I need them.
