To cut or not to cut!
I've had a go at making my first kilt and I think it looks pretty good for an initial attempt. I chose a heavier wool fabric rather than a full on tartan and followed some instructions I got from the web- (kiltmaking by R.F. Glover) with a few extras thrown in from another kilt site. The fabric seemed very thick round the waist so I followed the cutting instructions to remove the top edge to waist height but can't see why the cut part won't fray or worse still drop later on. I have put tacking stitches in above the waist line but are there any other alternatives for the next time? (As you can tell I don't have 'The book'!)
