Who bought Scottish Lion
I quote from their web site:
"The Scottish Lion web site is going to be continued, but under new management. "
Interesting development, I guess. Looks like the sale continues, though.....
Just an FYI.....

You're right. It seems to be a very new development. I see it will also be under new ownership.

I wonder if one of the big UK outfits is buying up the name and properties to expand a presence to North America.

I noticed that yesterday when I was on the site to see if they had Irish County Tartan ties. That was a shocker!
What a GREAT idea for anyone with some cash. A well-known site with a good reputation, and CURRENTLY a good traffic flow.
They keep the sale running and they'll do just fine!

I tried to email them a couple days ago with a stock left question and got it back as undeliverable...?

I asked them who's buying the company, but they wouldn't tell me! Or, to be more precise, the person I was talking to said she didn't know who it is, that she had just heard the news herself when she came in that day. That seemed a little strange to me, since the first thing I would have asked upon hearing the news is WHO? She said the mystery entity is buying the kilt rental operation and 'some other parts' of the business. Apparently they will still use the Scottish Lion name, too. Since I am buying some of their rental outfits for my own customers, I hope this new development doesn't screw that up for me!

Right from the web site:
"The Scottish Lion web site is going to be continued, but under new management. You'll be hearing more about that shortly, but since the new owner has his own inventory, we will be continuing our massive clearance sale until everything is gone. At that time the new owner will offer his own new and exciting product line, including tartan Highland attire for sale or for rent."
I would infer from this statement that the new owner is bring in his own new kilt rentals.

That's how I read it, too, but 'there's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip'!

Sooo if Scottish Lion's old owners are looking to sell out I wonder why they've not kept up their website and email?
Makes little sense...but then in my experience dealing with them they seldom did...
Used to get two of their catalogs every mailing. Would tell them repeatedly and give them the info to cancel the extra. They never bothered.
They advertised for Christmas delivery then the goods showed up the following May...
Never figured they had much "stock" to sell, they seemed to be an "I'll get it for you" middleman more than anything.

I think it's possible one of the bigger UK outfits might have bought up Lion to expand into a North American presence and since Scottish Lion is already well known it gives them a leg up in the publicity department. Just a guess on my part but seems to make some sense especially with the silence about the new owner.
