    Opinions please

As I have told some of you Sten Rune and I are working on a replacement for the antler lid decoration as Some would prefer somthing a little different.

We have tried to produce things ourselves only to discover it's not so easy to produce a good profesional result.

Norway is known for it's Pewter work, any self respecting American who has been on a cruise here will tell you that. Anyway to cut a long story short we contacted a chap here in Norway and he sent us some 2nd's to look at. They were mostly hunting and fishing motifs. However there were two which we thought were in the running

1 Viking/Celtic Brooch. It will be oxidized (Means the detail will be brought out by blackening the backround so all the detail shows through)This is just a sample

    2. Reindeer motif oxidized background.

Sten Rune and I would very much like to read what you think.
    All the Best.....David.

Definately prefer the Viking/Celtic. From what I have seen of your sporrans I think the animal motif would be lost on the lacings whereas the knotwork enhances.

    pweter buttons...

Personally, I prefer the reindeer, as:

    1). It's traditionally associated with Norway, Finland, etc., and that would give the Freelander even more "local colour";

2). It reminds me of "Big Eric" on Monarch -- I know, he wasn't a reindeer!

But the Celtic knot was nice as well.

What were some of the other hunting/fishing ones? As a novice fly fisherman, I had to ask!

    Cheers,

    Todd

Of the two I prefer the viking. I do however like the "handmade-roughness" of the other one. Possibly he could put a family initial in an old font instead of the reindeer. you can keep the change on that .02 cents.

What about just a stag head if there is one already made?

Of the two, I think the viking design, it seems 'different' and original, just like the sporrans.....

Going against the flow...I prefer the Reindeer. Not actually for the animal, I just prefer the detail versus the viking/celtic design which seems to me a bit unclear. A viking/celtic design does sound good but I'd prefer something different to that one.

I like them both. The reindeer has a nice roughness to it, and the Viking design harkens to the Viking connection in Scotland and Ireland as well.

Will they be detailed on both sides? Hanging on the straps they'll be bouncing and twisting everywhere.

EDIT: Sorry, I just saw you said it would be for the flap button.

    Andrew.

Just when I had calmed myself; I can wait. Must be able to afford it in my allowance budget, maybe the kids will see that as a nice birthday present ... anyway. Both? The Viking one resonnates since my mother's family is Danish and, since my step-father's family was scot/irish, to add the two together would be outstanding. Of course, I like the reindeer, too, so both is my vote.

    David,

I can see myself with both.

The reindeer is probably what I am leaning toward because of the detail and your antler connection, I see it sort of a continuation of your trademark.

Now the Viking/Celtic knotwork would probably seem more acceptable to those who are not really into kilt wearing.

I know this is a tough crowd so good luck on your decision.
